The Times named its figures for deaths in Britain from COVID-2019

The current number of deaths in the UK from a new coronavirus infection is almost twice the official statistics for this indicator. This allegation was made by The Times on 5 May. The publication estimates, based on data from the National Statistical Service of the United Kingdom (ONS), that during the week alone, as at 324 April this year, the number of deaths in the country exceeded the average for the last five years by 11,539 cases. At the same time, the number of deaths in the previous week (until April 17) was less, but the number of deaths in nursing homes began to be included in statistics only from April 28 and then it became more. As a result, the newspaper reduced these figures and subtracted from them the average mortality rate for the last five years, reaching its declared indicators. It should be noted, according to the news agency, earlier it became known that in Japan 115 new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in 24 hours, as a result of which the total number of coronavirus infections increased to 16,030 people.
