As noted in the Chongqing Municipal Institute of Cultural Heritage, which is located in the Yuzhong district of Chongqing, the structures belong to an ancient administrative building where the Song dynasty government was once located. This place was then the military and political center of the dynasty. Excavations started in August 2019 and lasted until December of the same year. During this time archeologists excavated an area of 810 square meters, where stilobats from the ground, living quarters, roads, mouths, pits, as well as stone and brick walls were discovered.
