Peskov assessed the probability of U.S. interference in Idlib
Syrian forces in Idlib are fighting terrorists on the territory of their country, the spokesman of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov reminded. Thus, the Kremlin representative commented on the statement of Turkish President Reg Taip Erdoğan that he could hold talks with White House head Donald Trump in connection with the situation in Syrian Idlib. Peskov noted that it is not yet possible to talk about direct U.S. interference in this conflict. In any case, this is not a conflict, it is a matter of implementing the Sochi agreements and the obligations that the parties have assumed under this document, he said. According to the news agency, Major General Yuri Borenkov, head of the Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, said earlier that on February 12, U.S. soldiers opened fire on civilians in the Syrian province of Hasakah, killing a 14-year-old child. Borenkov stressed that only thanks to the efforts of the Russian military, who arrived at the scene of the incident, it was possible to prevent further escalation of the conflict with local residents and to ensure the exit of a convoy of American soldiers to their base near the village of Himo.
