China allocated about $15 billion for culture and tourism in 2019

The Chinese government allocated 106.5 billion yuan (about $15 billion) for the development of culture and tourism in 2019, Xinhua News Agency reported on June 21. This indicator was 14.7% higher year-on-year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China reported. According to a report published by the ministry, per capita spending in this area amounted to 76.07 yuan, which is 14.3% more than a year earlier. At the end of last year, more than 5.16 million people were employed in the culture and tourism sectors of China. In 2020, this area was seriously affected by the pandemic of a new coronavirus.
