French Minister of Ecology opposed bird hunting with glue

The new French Minister of Ecology Barbara Pompili wants to put an end to the practice of hunting with glue, reports BFM TV. Barbara Pompili expressed this desire during a meeting with the head of the Hunter Federation. The goal is to abandon the method of hunting with glue until the next hunting season, which will begin in October. France allows hunting methods such as glue and mesh hunting, which do not meet the requirements of the directive on the conservation of wild birds and their habitats, the European Commission said in a statement. Recall that hunting with glue is allowed in five French departments. This practice consists in covering the branches of the tree with glue and attracting birds, which, landing on the branch, are trapped. This method of hunting has long been in the field of view of defenders of biodiversity, in particular, the League for the Protection of Birds.
