In Moldova, found 20 kg of mercury brought from Ukraine

A container with 20 kilograms of mercury from Ukraine was discovered in the Glodyansky district of Moldova by employees of the anti-terrorist center of the Information and Security Service (IRB) and the territorial administration of Belts, the press service of the Information and Security Service said on July 31. A dangerous chemical substance stored in a container with four metal tubes was found in the forest near the village of Funduria Noi. After the discovery of mercury, IRB employees called rescuers from the radiation, chemical and biomedical protection department of the Main Emergency Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Mercury was taken for examination and took measures to protect the place where the container of a dangerous substance was stored. IRB officers conduct an investigation to identify persons who own mercury, as well as install customers of hazardous metal. Persons who stored and transported mercury face a fine of 550 to 950 conventional units (up to 47 thousand lei or 208 thousand rubles) or imprisonment for up to three years.
