The party of Djukanovic admitted defeat in the elections to the Assembly of Montenegro

The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) ruling in Montenegro for more than 30 years, President Milo Djukanovic, admitted defeat in the parliamentary elections. The corresponding statement was issued by the party's press service today, September 5. It is known that on the night of September 5, a congress of the Supreme Council of the traffic police was held, at which the results of the assembly elections held on August 30 were discussed in detail. Following the meeting, the leaders of the traffic police said that their party still remains the strongest political force in Montenegro, but it lost the elections, since it cannot form a coalition government with its partners. Based on the circumstances on which we cannot form a parliamentary majority, and thereby a new government with current coalition partners, the election result is a failure (defeat), the party said. Recall that earlier the President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic said that he did not admit the defeat of his party in the assembly elections. However, the leader of the opposition coalition, Zdravko Krivokapich, has already stated that the regime has fallen. Recall that Djukanovic's political positions were shaken after he introduced his country into the NATO military bloc and finally quarreled with Moscow, and also tried to initiate the process of splitting the Serbian Orthodox Church and separating a separate Montenegrin church from it.
